Warrior, a new kid on the block has launched the Liverpool Away kit. Following the launch of the home kit earlier this month, the U.S. firm taps into the Liverpool modern tradition theme for the away kit.
Liverpool signed a £25 million ($41m) a year deal with Warrior, which started on June 1 2012. Warrior is the official LFC kit supplier (home, away and third kits, as well as their training wear) for the next six years. The contract beats Manchester United’s previous Premier League kit record of £23.5m ($38m) with Nike.
Head of Warrior Football Richard Wright said: ‘The away kit draws strong parallels from the uniforms worn by the Liverpool dockyard workers who plied their trade at the Mersey Docks – the world’s most influential ship building at the turn of the 20th century.’
The new LFC away kit is inspired by the kit worn the Reds between 1900 and 1906. Featuring black as main colour, the kit has details of yellow and raven grey.
According to Warrior, the new Home and Away kits have been designed using Warrior’s apparel system, War-Tech. Within War-Tech, according to the official statement, lies Scafé – an innovative, antimicrobial fabric made with coffee grounds that is fast drying, assists with odor control, provides UV protection, and is environmentally friendly.
Warrior will launch the 3rd kit in July. To be continued.
