Barcelona fans will agree Lionel Messi is worth his weight in gold, and a Japanese jeweller has unveiled a solid golden replica of the Argentine’s foot in tribute to the Ballon d’Or winner.
The golden foot, unveiled in Tokyo today and designed by the Tanaka Kikinzoku firm, is valued at around £3.5m. If you have a spare $5.25 million in between your couch cushions, you can buy the foot on Thursday, Tanaka said.
“It’s exceptional. You can see each line in the foot. It’s an impressive piece of work,” Messi’s brother Rodrigo, who attended the unveiling said.
A portion of the proceeds of the sale will go to Messi’s foundation, which will support children in areas affected by the earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan in March of 2011. [Source: Huffington Post]
