Nike Celebrates Selecao Victory and Position itself for World Cup 2014

Posted on Updated on

Hi everyone,BOC8hMACMAEFuH4
Brasil’s victory in the Confederations Cup on Sunday was just the beginning of the journey towards the possibilities that await them on home soil again next summer. Nike celebrates the National Team’s victory with a dynamic digital film “Show Your Game,” that aired on digital channels shortly after the final.

Showing the preparation, the tension, the adrenaline, the concentration and the passion of the fans at kick-off. ‘Show your Game’ draws a parallel between the team’s journey and the young athletes playing football on the beaches, in the streets and on the turf pitches of Brasil.

The film shows Brasil players – Neymar, David Luiz, Thiago Silva –  and Coach Luiz Felipe Scolari preparing for the tournament. In parallel, they ready themselves for their own opportunity to fight for recognition and prove their talent.

Each is preparing for the most important game of their lives. They are all experiencing the same story. Together, they represent Brasilian football.

Brasilian rapper Emicida and singer Thiaguinho wrote and performed the music, which includes lyrics such as “A son of yours does not shirk the fight,” and “Strength, grit and faith, bring it on.”

Also playing on the song are Lucio Maia (guitar), Puppilo (drums) and Dengue (bass), from the band Nação Zumbi. [Source: Nike.com]

Once again, Brazil becomes a World Cup favorite due to the Confederations Cup victory. It is just what the world cup needed. Can’t wait til next year to see the best football with the top national teams.

I think Brazil is always a favourite by nature of what they are. A football nation who won 5 World Cups. On a marketing standpoint, I am very interested in seeing how Nike will activate their marketing campaign(s) and promotions on their home turf, knowing that they are not a FIFA sponsor nor partner. The launch of the Hypernemom was perhaps a “warm up” of what they are planning to do. Let’s wait and see.
