Nike signed a sponsorship deal with the FA in September 2012, replacing a 50 year partnership between Umbro and the English FA. The swoosh released yesterday the first episode of “England Matters”.
In a statement about the partnership, Charlie Denson, Nike Brand President said: “The pride and passion of England fans is renowned throughout the football world and we are delighted to partner with the FA”.
Pride and passion are the key elements in the “England Matters” video featuring Daniel Sturridge and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The scope is obviously the road to Brazil, but also the pride to wear the 3 Lions shirt.
Nike remains consistent in their approach following the launch of the England Home kit: “It’s only a shirt. It’s what the players do in it that counts”. A very interesting ad from Nike with a strong emphasis on values to represent your country in Brazil.
