AON Takes Manchester United to the 2014 U.S Summer Tour

Hi everyone,Manchester_United
Aon has agreed an expansion of its current partnership with Manchester United, to serve as the presenting sponsor of Man Utd’s 2014 pre-season tour to the United States.

Aon already acts as the club’s principal sponsor, and will now receive an array of branding opportunities surrounding the tour.

The ‘Tour 2014’ will be the first time that Manchester United have visited North America since the summer of 2011, although full details of the tour are yet to be confirmed with the club’s league position yet to be decided, and could end up involved in the early qualifying rounds of the UEFA Europa League.

United would join Manchester City and Liverpool in the States, alongside Inter Milan, Ac Milan, Roma, Olympiacos and Real Madrid in the International Cup, with the final at the Sun Life Stadium – the home of the Miami Dolphins – on 4th August.

However, with United currently sat in seventh position in the Barclays Premier League, United’s participation in European football for next season is yet to be confirmed. Currently only fifth place will secure Europa League football, but if Manchester City win the Capitol One Cup next month that will be extended to sixth, with the FA Cup place still to be decided – but could see seventh place secure a European place.

Should this situation occur, that team would be required to enter the qualifying rounds of Europe’s secondary competition, expected to start in the middle of the International Champions Cup.

Manchester United’s group managing director, Richard Arnold, said of the deal: ‘I’m delighted to announce that the team will be returning to the USA for our 2014 Tour, presented by Aon.’

‘Manchester United has over eight million followers in the United States and the 2014 Tour presents an exciting opportunity for these fans to get up close to the club they love.’

Greg Case, the president and chief executive officer of Aon, added: ‘We are delighted that our partner Manchester United will be playing in the US for the club’s Tour 2014, presented by Aon.’

‘The US market is very important for Manchester United and Aon, and as the tour’s ‘presenting partner’, this is a tremendous opportunity for our colleagues to create greater understanding of the value we provide for clients so they can enhance economic and human possibility for their companies and employees across the country.’ [Source: SportIndustry Biz]
