Castrol has signed a one-year global brand ambassador deal with Brazilian star Neymar, an agreement that is set to complement Castrol’s deal as an official sponsor of Brazil’s 2014 World Cup.
The deal will see Neymar become the face of Castrol’s World Cup promotions and support a “ground-breaking” new Castrol activation, which is due to be launched in April. The 22-year-old is set to have a huge profile at this year’s World Cup, bearing the status of the host country’s star man.
The addition of Castrol further bolsters the player’s considerable endorsement portfolio. Along with Castrol, Neymar also enjoys endorsement deals with Nike, Police, Panasonic, Mentos, Claro, Terys-pe, Lupo, Guarana Antarctica, Unilever, Volkswagen, Santander and Heliar.
The new partnership was signed in consultation with Wasserman Media Group, which has previously worked with Castrol to secure the services of Real Madrid and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo, along with Brazil and France legends Cafu and Marcel Desailly. [Source: Sport Business]
