Last year, New York Cosmos inked a shirt sponsorship deal with Dubai based airlines Emirates. A year later, both parties agree on a 2 year extension deal.
The Cosmos arrived in Dubai last week for a pre-season training visit and the club’s honorary president and former player, Brazilian superstar Pele, was present to launch the new Emirates deal on Sunday.
Pele went on to give a talk to the assembled crowd on the highlights of his career. The event was filmed and will be screened on Emirates’ in-flight entertainment system.
The Cosmos went on to win the Fall Championship and Soccer Bowl in their first season back in the second-tier NASL. It kicks off the 2014 campaign with a home match against Atlanta Silverbacks on April 13.
Although New York Cosmos play in the NASL, (North America Soccer League) the second tier of US football, the iconic club still attracts global partner. Emirates, Nike to name a few, but Cosmos also benefits from a US national TV partnership with One World Sport. An MLS club strategy and partners, although not being part of the MLS.
