Hi guys,FIFA logo
FIFA and Sony have extended their range of 4K broadcast initiatives for the 2014 World Cup national team tournament.

The World Cup initiatives include production of three full matches at the tournament using Sony’s professional 4K equipment. This will include one match from the round of 16, one quarter-final and the final

Sony and FIFA will also collaborate to produce the official World Cup film in 4K Ultra HD. The film will feature a selection of games including the final.

In addition, as a commercial partner of Fifa, Sony’s booths in a number of World Cup stadiums and at Fifa Fan Fests will show official 4K film promotional trailers produced in 4K/60P with match action.

Sony showrooms and retail outlets around the world will also show promotional official 4K film trailers on 4K-compatitable Bravia televisions.

“FIFA has a proud track record in embracing innovation at our flagship competition, to make sure that football fans around the world receive the very best in match coverage and experience,” Fifa director of TV Niclas Ericson said. “4K will propel fans around the globe into a whole new viewing dimension and it marks the dawning of a new era in the broadcasting of sport.” [Source: Sport Business]
