At a press conference on Friday morning at their US office in New York, FC Bayern Munich announced a media partnership with MSN to syndicate FC Bayern’s premium and exclusive content directly to MSN, one of the leading news portals in the US.
As part of FC Bayern’s continued commitment and growth in the US, world soccer legend and club ambassador Franz Beckenbauer will lend his voice to FC Bayern’s dedicated US media property with a regular featured column.
The content partnership with MSN will bring FC Bayern’s editorial and video content to MSN’s vast US audience across all platforms and connected devices. MSN is a comprehensive and broad offering, bringing content from some of the most well-respected and influential media sources together in one place. Through the content partnership, FC Bayern is the first soccer club to have a direct presence on MSN’s US platforms.
Fans in the US will also get to experience the game through the eyes of one of its biggest legends. Franz Beckenbauer’s column on FC Bayern’s US media website will provide insight on current topics of the game. It will be a combination of his experience in US soccer, but also reflect on matters surrounding FC Bayern Munich, including the upcoming 2015/16 season, which will be broadcast live on FOX Sports to 85 million American households.
Franz Beckenbauer, FC Bayern Munich Club Ambassador, said: “It’s great to be back in the US. The quality and interest in soccer here is at the highest level it has ever been. I’m excited to provide my perspective on the most talked about topics on the sport and club level for FC Bayern Munich in the US.”
FC Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge commented: “The media partnership with MSN is another important step for our internationalization strategy. Millions of people will receive exclusive FC Bayern content via MSN. Together, we are bringing our US fans closer to our club, our brand, and our philosophy.”
Nate Friends, Microsoft’s Business Development Director of Global Sports & Strategic Partnerships for MSN and Bing, added: “Having FC Bayern’s premium content on MSN will enrich our overall soccer coverage and allow FC Bayern the opportunity to reach a large digital US audience.”
