The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has signed a long-term extension to its sponsorship deal with adidas. The two parties have put pen to paper on an extended deal that will run until 2026.
The deal sees the continuation of a long-standing partnership which has lasted over 35 years, which has coincided with the team’s triumphs at the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the European Championships in 2008 and 2012.
“We are very proud to announce the extension of our successful sponsorship agreement with the Spanish Football Federation. We hope to continue with our successful agreement and support the Spanish National in future achievements.”said Herbert Hainer, CEO of adidas group.
Angel Maria Villar, President of the Spanish National Football Federation stated: “The extension of our close relationship with adidas takes place because we’re convinced it’s the best for RFEF and for the different national teams. RFEF and adidas have worked alongside each other for many years and will continue to do so until 2026, a period of time we are sure will be fruitful for both parties.”
Financial details of the new deal were not given, although the current contract, signed in 2011, was estimated to be worth €24 million per year.
The extension means adidas will support Spain through the next three Fifa World Cups and Uefa European Championship campaigns. Adidas was a partner of the Spanish national team when they won the World Cup in 2010 and the European Championship in both 2008 and 2012. [Source: ISC]
