Tavecchio has been elected as new President of FIGC (Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio), the Italian FA. Tavecchio beat Demetrio Albertini in the race to succeed Giancarlo Abete, who resigned in June after the Italy national team slumped out of the Fifa World Cup at the group stage.

One of my favourite sports journalist Pedro Pinto interviewed Sepp Blatter. FIFA President said “Racists insults should be forgotten”. Among other things, he encourages the victims of racism to shake hands at the end of the game. Some live in the real world, others do not.
Racism, antisemitism and homophobia are plagues in our society that must be eradicated. Unfortunatly, racism found its way to football stadiums for many years and quite frankly, no drastic measures have been taken so far. Some leagues have worked hard to fight and to kick racism out of their stadiums, others, have just let things go. The Russian league is one of them.
